All the News That’s Fit to Print Out

a great long article about wikipedia... i love wiki. i use it more than google.

2057 - The World

elevators to space... every book ever, sent across the globe, in seconds...

the elevator thing might seem a bit far fetched but the data thing does not. resolutions/bitrates/everything will continue upwards (forever). why shouldn't you be able to print a 4x5 foot poster of a pic from your digicam? why should you have a video with less resolution than the screen you are watching it on? why shouldn't your home theatre have 14 speakers?
i will tell you 6 megapixel dslr's cost 8 grand in 2001. now 10 megapixel dslr's are under a thousand. the current going price for 22 megapixels is 7 grand. will it take 6 years for that price to be less than a thousand? i doubt it.

I'm a good girl, honest

the article convinced me to listen to the album. as far as i knew, the corrs are celtic pop music. i'm probly wrong, but anyway, this new album by andrea corr called "ten feet high" is good. bono is the executive producer. i'm pretty sure i just heard "i sleep in open graves". short cd, worth checking out.

Kate Nash - Foundations

i like it

my movie revues #11

me and you and everyone we know - see, this had the best scene in a movie i've seen all year. found this one after i saw some promo for it on
knocked up - see, it worked.
district b13 hd - see, awesome action movie. the opening chase in this one kills the casino royale opening chase.
equilibrium hd - see, another awesome action movie. i dunno how i missed it when it came out.
the elephant man hd - see, great classic. the audio was rough but i think that's the way it was intended.
letters from iwo jima hd - see, beautifully shot. superb.
mtv unplugged alicia keys hd - see, not a movie but worth mentioning. i own the dvd but seeing in hd was a whole new experience.

Cocaine-addled driver destroys entire cornfield on run from police

A driver who was high on cocaine destroyed an entire cornfield in an attempt to escape from the police.

Four police cars were destroyed before the 35-year-old crashed into a ditch and was arrested, near the village of Dussen in the south of the Netherlands.

Amy Winehouse - Tears Dry on Their Own

Amy Winehouse's newest Music Video: "Tears Dry on Their Own" Directed by David La Chapelle shot 5-22-07 on Hollywood Blvd. i think i need to see it in hd to really have an opinion about it. it's just so damn small on this screen.

color.swap (Set)

"Visual results from testing a system of color-swapping particles. Right now particles are attracted to others that they see as good 'customers' - meaning they have excess red, green, or blue to trade. The actual trading system is proving a bit more difficult. Stay tuned... "
i really have no idea what that means but the images are pretty cool. check out the whole set.

mandy moore new album

the review gets it right saying this album is adult pop, and that the songs aren't that memorable. "i drink my coffee late at night" seems to be the most memorable line from the album. it is enjoyable though.

There are no good guys in Iraq

"Without Iraq, I was nothing. Just another photographer hanging around New York. In Iraq, I had a purpose, a mission; I felt important."
a hardcore story by a photographer shooting for nytimes who keeps going back to iraq for more.

Rihanna - Shut Up & Drive

brand new rihanna vid. the consensus is that this is not as good as the umbrella vid. some people disagree with the song choice as the single. i like it, but i like breakin dishes more.

Sienna Miller - Marc Hom Shoot

i add these because there is something great about each one. there was a sixth photo but i left it out because it wasn't as striking as these five. great work.

Cindy Crawford - Bryan Adams Shoot

a lot of people have strong opinions about celebs turning to photography and it is mostly negative attitudes. personally, i could care less. i think anyone who falls under the category of artist should paint, take photos, make music and make movies along with whatever else. i'm assuming these are new and you can click them to see them at max blogger size.

hayley sales - sunseed

[UPDATE (july 1): link died so i put link to her myspace. i would have copied the whole article if i knew. bastardos.] i listened to the album and i liked it. first saw this girl at 5am on muchmoremusic. she should put her music vid on youtube. it's great how she is involved in every step of making this album. she gets compared to norah jones in the article.

my movie revues #10

annie hall - see, this is considered a classic and rightfully so. nice and creative.
shooter - pass, this was whatever. typical hollywood sniper conspiracy movie.
two for the money - see, this had the rage shot of al pacino that every film of his has. low rating on imdb but i thought it worked.
reno 911 miami - see, this is great stupid fun. outlandish and funny.
fever pitch - see, drew barrymore plays the role she always plays but the ending was great.
friday after next - pass, the only reason i got past the opening credits was seeing k.d. aubert's name.
black snake moan hd - see, this was a bizarre movie but the fact that it stuck to its own style worked. justin timberlake can't act. stop putting him in movies.

belly - people change

so i was trying to find a review of this album last week to post. it's good to see him in the biggest canadian newspaper. if you don't know, belly is doing it big. one of the very few millionaires in canadian urban music which is a small market. he debuted higher than keshia chante (when she came out) who is bigtime in her own way. the media knows how to look at the positive by saying his album debuted at #6 in toronto. "Before me, there was a void in Canadian hip hop and everybody can admit that." him, point blank, alias donmillion. ain't noone else coming with the heat on tv. he's got some great features (fabolous, nina sky)... the kurupt (the star misspells kurupt) track "i'm the man" is insane like a lot of the tracks. fab's verse "I got a degree in flyology" is jokes. the production is top notch with a very full sound for every track. the beat on "people change" is ear candy for real. get your audio game up to appreciate that one. this album and point blank on september 11 is all you're gonna need this year to satisfy your canadian rap content.

dad bands

“You don’t want to be playing your guitar, feeling like you’re 20 all over again, then look in a mirror and see some paunchy balding guy,” funny article. i still listen to stand by me soundtrack from my childhood. nostalgia ftw.

Hilary Duff - Stranger - Official Video

i've decided to make the blog more picture-centric so most posts from now on will have a photo to go with the post and youtube vids will be embedded.
hilary duff looking aiight. especially in the indian styling. she should make "happy" her next single.

push it - sophie monk

sophie monk singing 'push it' to advertise a new push up bra. watch the video.

TV Writers Were Also Watching ‘Sopranos’

warning: do NOT click the link if you have not seen the series finale of sopranos. personally, i absolutely LOVED the ending.

100 Reasons Why I'd Make The Best Girlfriend Ever

i have to admit, when i look for videos on youtube, most of them suck ass. the key is finding the good ones. this one is good.

bush getting robbed

at 0:55 someone steals his watch off his wrist. that's some good security he got. lol.

From Nothin' to Somethin'

took me a while to get into this one. at first, i thought it was mastered wrong. average album, but average for fab is better than most. the track with ne-yo is hypnotic.

get myspace mp3s

on very rare occasion, i want to have a song from someone's myspace page on my hard drive. this comes in handy for that. looks like the quality is 96 kbit. i've just gotten one so far called "like i do LIVE" from . word.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor

you may remember her from the super euro song of the summer in 2000 "if this ain't love." if somehow you do not remember this song, watch the youtube vid here. she's back. the vid for me and my imagination is the most euro video i've ever seen. the new album is very dance/pop. it's good. the song "only one" is lovely. the beat on "china heart" is neat.

skate pics from 70s

In a couple of weeks (and coinciding with National Go Skateboarding Day on June 21st) an exhibition of photographs by Hugh Holland opens at the Crane Kalman gallery in Brighton. cool pics.

mutya real girl

this review pretty much gets it right. mutya has a great voice but the song choices on the album aren't the greatest. still, the songs real girl and b-boy baby are crack.

"An exemplary summer pop album, in every way." super short review. everyone loves it. 4 stars at allmusic too. got it?

my movie revues #9

the architect - pass, this comes off as made for tv.
christiane f - see, but only if you can handle 14 year old heroin addicts. and if you can find it with english subs.
memento hd - see, i saw this once when i was super high so i only remembered like 5%. wow. this is an amazing movie. perfect. must-see.
the searchers hd - see, some consider this the best western ever. this 50 year old film looked like it could have been shot yesterday. amazingly remastered.
oldboy hd - see, this was good and only after i saw it did i realize it was the vtech killers favorite movie. kinda creepy. and it had like 20 endings lol.
babel hd - see, i saw this in the theatre originally and the thing i love about this one is how it flies by.
the departed hd - see, saw in theatre too and this time around i really liked the last shot of the movie. it summed up the whole story.

knocked up, 4 stars.

quite the short article compared to the one i posted from sunday. looks like a hit.

amazing mexico city photography

these shots are all from the air. my favorites are of Ixtapaluca (rows of low-income housing) and the really really tall apartment building. must-see.

there was some debate as to whether these photos were real. all signs point to yes. they were on cnn and afp are hardcore. i will not link to websites that resize your browser. that's why these pics are here instead of a link. almost forgot the caption:
Palestinians run as a rocket falls at them during an Israeli air strike on the Hamas Executive Force building in Nusseirat refugee camp in the centre of the Gaza strip, Friday. Warplanes pounded the Gaza Strip for a ninth day as Palestinians continued to fire rockets into Israel despite a call from Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas for a truce.
