valuable words about photography. been looking at the photo book lately too and figuring out why i like black & white so much.

my movie revues #14
barton fink - pass, this palme d'or winner didn't really do much for me.
lie with me - see, this gets a mild recommendation. i liked it cause it was artsy and shot well. but look at the plot keywords on imdb to really see what you are in for.
the dog problem - see, this was a good all around film.
cherry crush - pass, this movie was so bad i was laughing for the last 30 minutes of the movie. real guilty pleasure movie about a photographer who falls for his model.
the pianist hd - see, this is a must-see. be warned of the brutal violence though.
wild things hd - see, audio was awesome, video was a tad dated, movie is super classic. "i'm not an addict, it's cool..."
goodfellas hd - see, it was a really long time since i last saw this. great film with style.

'I don't think bloggers read'
http://books.guardian.co.uk/departments/computingandthenet/story/0,,2130794,00.html
i don't agree about wikipedia. i think the masses do come up with the most accurate info in most cases. but i do agree about bloggers being amateur writers. two blogs i visit regularly have the worst spelling and grammar mistakes. but they offer content better than anyone else in their areas of expertise.

my movie revues #13
london to brighton - pass, dreary typical uk film with gangsters.
cashback - see, this one convinced me to stick to film fest movies in the future. great picture from the uk that was at tiff.
breach - pass, typical hollywood mediocrity.
wicker park - see, but only if you like the actresses. if this wasn't about pretty twentysomethings, it would be absurd.
some like it hot - see, classic from 1959 with marilyn monroe. it's fun. can't really go wrong.
taste of cherry - see, won palme d'or in 1997 at cannes. a curious picture.
happy gilmore hd - see, my favorite line is "and you can count on me waiting for you in the parking lot." the first fight on the golf course is soooo funny.

A Fine Frenzy - Almost Lover
saw this girl on leno, checked out the album, got bored halfway through. but the music video is decent. A Fine Frenzy is the music of 21 year-old Alison Sudol. She developed a strong love for the fantastic literary worlds of CS Lewis, EB White, Lewis Carroll and Charles Dickens. cliche to me.

Colbie Caillat - Coco album
this photo is called "recording a song in my shower where the sound is the best!" before i saw this photo, i was thinking this album doesn't sound like it was recorded in a million dollar studio. but in a good way. i guess i'm a little bit right. "After finishing a handful of songs, she posted some tunes on Myspace and generated virtually no response for the first few months. To her astonishment, when she added the single "Bubbly" to the site, people latched on to the catchy hook." definitely something to that song...
the album which comes out tuesday is excellent. recommended.

Hayden Panettiere singing Try at the Capitol Fourth concert in Washington D.C. on July 4th, 2007.
you can bet people will look back on this vid in 5 years and be like "she used to be hot before all the drugs." awful song but i'm sure a hit album is on the way.

pics straight from top model Michaela Kocianova. and i say top because anyone in a dior show is top. she's no LaChapelle yet, but it would be cool if she continued to do it regularly.

heads up: Tamara Ecclestone
i didn't do a lot of research but it sounds like her 76 year old dad is a billionaire. when you're that rich, i guess you can say stupid shit. In an interview with the Daily Mirror, she said she "makes do" with her pocket money, and wouldn't dream of spending less than £700 on a handbag.

children of men hd - see, perfect movie.
the untouchables hd - see, good film with great cast.

Pay or free? Newspaper archives not ready for open Web... yet
http://www.ojr.org/ojr/stories/050201/
"Despite those economic caveats, Nisenholtz has still opened up some content on NYTimes.com, with older travel and technology articles joining book reviews in the free archives."
so i was unaware that my older links to certain sites turn into pay-per-article links. i found this older article about the subject. out of all my links to nytimes, only two music reviews and a first chapter in the books section still link to entire articles. the rest you gotta pay for after 7 days. this is one reason i don't read globeandmail.com because i know my links will be useless after 7 days. posting entire articles on this site is officially wrong but more importantly, the layout of the blog doesn't really work for long stories. i tried with the mandy moore article below. fortunately, my links to other popular sites like the guardian, telegraph and the star all seem to be permanent. the best solution is to visit my blog more than once every 7 days so you can read all the links. any insight into this issue is welcome.

T.I. vs T.I.P. album really is not that good. the review gets it right. some of the features are nice like nelly and jay-z but i'll be playing king in 2 months and not this one. big shit poppin is a monster single so we'll have to see how the album charts...

hilary duff - The outsider
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/fashion/main.jhtml?xml=/fashion/2007/07/01/sthilary101.xml
i like her new album but her filmography is pretty sad. she should really think about doing a movie that doesn't suck. "She is unhappy with her film career." i guess she has thought about it. lol.
